During the first eight months of the current year 332 421 passengers were serviced in the Freeport of Riga, which is by 88,9% more than last year. Of those, 121 330 persons were cruise passengers, which is by 77,6% more if comparing to 2006.
The highest growth has been in general cargo segment reaching 3,87 MLN tons which is by 15,3% more than during last year’s respective period. The amounts of liquid cargoes have reached 3,4 MLN tons, which is by 4,3% more than in 2006.
Container cargo amounts have reached 1,171 MLN tons, which is by 16,7% more comparing with the last year.
This year 9,97 MLN tons of bulk cargoes were handled, which is by 9,2% less than during the first eight months of the last year, when 10,99 MLN tons were handled.
During the first eight months of the current year 17,2 MLN tons of cargoes were handled in the Freeport of Riga, which is by 2,1% less than during respective period of the last year, when the Freeport handled 17,6 MLN tons.
