Within the territory of the Freeport of Riga in industrial park VEGA it is planned to build a new bio-diesel production factory. Within the next few years it is planned to make investments of more than 10 mln euros for development of the factory. The project is being carried out together with German partner "Campa-Biodiesel GmbH", which is one of the largest bio-diesel producers in Europe. Together with construction of bio-diesel production factory company "Baltic BioOil" will build a factory that will produce rape oil, which is the main component for bio-diesel production. The planned capacity of the factory will be approximately 75 000 tons of bio-diesel per year. It is planned to start the construction of the factory already this year. According to the business plan it is planned that the oil-producing factory begins to operate in January 2005 and bio-diesel production on 1 July 2005.
