Since the end of 2022, the Freeport of Riga Authority and the LVR Flote have been implementing a new multifunctional hybrid ice-class technical fleet vessel purchase project, which is co-financed with the support of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Transport Military Mobility (MilMob) program of the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).

The aim of the project is the purchase of a new multifunctional hybrid ice class (1C) vessel in order to improve the technical capacity of LVR Flote ice breaking in the port of Riga and the Gulf of Riga, as well as to ensure more efficient provision of services.

The implementation of this project will contribute to the achievement of the strategic objectives of the Freeport of Rig - to maintain a safe and sustainable vessel infrastructure, as well as to reduce the impact of the port operation on the environment. The project is an important step towards the LVR Flote’s commitment to implement the modernization of the technical fleet of the port by 2026, gradually introducing technologies for the use of renewable energy resources.

The contracted investment for the purchase of a new vessel is EUR 10.498 million and the co-financing from CINEA amounts to EUR 5.076 million of the eligible costs of the project.
