The Freeport of Riga is the largest port in Latvia, which annually provides more than 50% of the volume of cargo handled in Latvian ports.
In 2023 the companies of the Freeport of Riga generated more than 200 million euros for the Latvian economy. According to the study of the think tank CERTUS, each ton of cargo handled at the Freeport of Riga contributes to Latvia's GDP in the amount of 10.7 EUR.
The Freeport of Riga is an important and socially responsible employer. More than 200 companies - cargo handling and storage terminals, manufacturing, shipbuilding and repair companies, ship agencies, as well as supply, bunkering and other port service providers - work here on a daily basis, providing jobs for more than 4,000 people.
Being a socially responsible organization that cares about the environment and the quality of the city resident life, the Freeport of Riga Authority implements various social responsibility projects both on its own and in cooperation with the port area residents and other partners. The said projects are related to environmental protection, promotion of green thinking, preservation of the port's historical heritage, science and the development of education in the fields of port operation, maritime affairs and logistics. Furthermore, the FPRA actively participates in cultural, sporting and educational events loved and recognized by society.
