The port of Riga has publicly accessible territories and closed territories of private terminals, production facilities and port structures. In public areas photography and filming are allowed without restrictions. Filming and photography using an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) from publicly accessible places in the port shall be permissible in compliance with the requirements of legislation in force in the country (upon receipt of a flight permit from the Civil Aviation Agency) and upon approval of the Freeport of Riga Authority.
For the possibility to organize filming or photography in the closed areas of the Freeport of Riga, please contact the Public Relations Unit of the Freeport of Riga Authority. Keep in mind that a pass may be required to enter the port of Riga territory
In order to co-ordinate the flight, a written application shall be submitted to the Freeport of Riga Authority at least 5 working days before the flight of the unmanned aircraft (drone). Detailed procedure and application form can be found in the documents attached below. If it is intended to perform a high-risk flight, the application shall be accompanied by an operating permit. Information on the requirements of the particular flight set in the specific geographical area is available on the website www.airspace.lv/drones of the "Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme" (LGS).
