Public order and public safety within the port area is one of the most important pillars of a safe port, and in the Freeport of Riga this responsibility lies with the Port Police.

The Port Police ensures the maintenance of public order and law enforcement in the territory of the Freeport of Riga.

The Port Police operates in compliance with the Law “On Police”, laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia and the Port Police Regulations. Maintaining public order and safety in the port of Riga, the Port Police co-operates with the State Police, the Latvian State Security Service, the State Border Guard, the Customs Authority of the State Revenue Service and other institutions.
