By participating in the ERDF INTERREG program project “Improvement of sailing infrastructure and yacht harbours network building in Estonia and Latvia” (EST-LAT Harbors) the Freeport of Riga Authority plans to improve the infrastructure of Ķīpsala Yacht Port. The aim of the project is to increase the competitiveness of the Port of Riga in the field of sailing tourism and hosting large sailing competitions, that might contribute to the growth of the tourism potential of the city of Riga
The marina is traditionally designed by connecting the floating berth modules according to the required layout. Submerged reinforced concrete blocks, which are connected to the floating pontoons with special chains, are used for berth anchorage. The total length of the berth is 795 m, it is possible to accommodate about 200 floating craft at a time. In order to preserve the traditional wooden cladding of Ķīpsala, a high-quality larch wood paneling has been used to build the berth.
