Despite the critical situation in Latvian waters the Freeport of Riga continues the work in the Gulf of Riga and River Daugava. Data about the ships serviced at the Freeport of Riga prove it. On average, ten vessels are serviced per day, which is a very good showing even for weather conditions when the ships are not hindered by ice.

There are no delays in service of Tallink ferries – they arrive and leave according to the schedule.

It just goes to show that work at the Freeport or Riga continues non-stop – the icebreaker “VARMA” and the tugboats operate 24/7. The icebreaker “VARMA”, which is in disposition of the Freeport of Riga, has freed 116 ships since the beginning of navigation in ice until February 24.

Entry in the Freeport of Riga and cargo operations are not notably affected to vessels with engine power parameters and hulls suitable for shipping in the accordant winter conditions.

The vessels incompliant with the decree issued by the port master on navigation in ice in the Freeport of Riga experience the biggest difficulties.
