Today the Freeport of Riga Authority signed an agreement with Estonian shipping company "Tallink" that determines starting regular ferry traffic between Riga and Stockholm within six weeks time.

"Tallink" states that the first ferry "Fantaasia" in line Riga – Stockholm will start to operate in the beginning of April.


The term of the agreement is five years. During the current year "Tallink" has to service 170 000 passengers with the growth of passengers each year. The company has taken commitments to tranship certain amount of passengers for each year.

"Tallink" has gained a liner ship status, the port dues are to be set according to this status.

The Freeport of Riga Authority has taken obligations to make investments in Riga Passenger terminal in order to ensure up-to-day level of passenger service. The Freeport plans to invest about a million lats.
