During the first quarter of the current year the Freeport of Riga handled 5.9 MLN tons of cargoes, which is by 4.4% more than within respective period of the last year, when 5.7 MLN tons were handled.


During the first three months of the current year the Freeport of Riga handled 3.6 MLN tons of bulk cargoes, which is by 17.6% more than within the respective period of the last year, when 3.1 MLN tons were handled. 2.7 MLN tons of bulk cargoes was coal, reaching increase of 23.9%. 370 100 tons were chemical cargoes, which is by 25.9% less, but 277 500 tons were pulpwood which is by 19.3% more.

Also 1.166 MLN tons of liquid cargoes were handled, which is by 1.8% more than within the first quarter of the last year, when 1.145 MLN tons of these cargoes were handled. 1.1 MLN tons were oil products reaching increase by 5.6%. Also 5900 tons of liquid gas were handled which is about twice less than last year.

General cargoes amounts have decreased by 21.2% until 1.2 MLN tons this year. Within the first quarter period of the last year approximately 1.5 MLN tons of these cargoes were handled. 689 500 tons of general cargoes were timber which is less by 27.3%. 383 000 tons of container cargoes were handled, reaching increase of 18.2%.

During the first three months of the current year the Freeport of Riga has serviced 3838 passengers which is less than within the respective period of the last year, when 20 281 passengers were serviced.
