During the first quarter of the current year 5,8 MLN tons of cargoes were handled in the Freeport of Riga, which is by 2,8% less than during respective period of the last year.
The largest increase was at the general cargo sector, reaching 9,8% increase comparing to the previous year. The amounts of general cargos were 1 278 700 tons.
At the same time the largest decrease was at the bulk cargo sector – 7,6% less than in the first quarter of the previous year. Total amounts of the bulk cargo handled this year are 3,37 MLN tons. During the first quarter of the current year 1,16 MLN tons of liquid cargoes are handled, which is by 0,5% less than comparing to 2006.
During the first three months of the current year 35 858 passengers were serviced in the Freeport of Riga, which is by 8,5 times more than last year.
