The Freeport of Riga Authority will invest LVL 42 000 in improvement of border checkpoint of the passenger terminal in order to prepare for the reception of the Estonian maritime company "Tallink" ferries. Calculations carried out previously show that the improvement costs could reach 1 MLN lats.


The largest Estonian maritime company "Talink" will start to operate regularly in the line Riga-Stockholm as of 6 April 2006. The ticket selling already has started in the Latvian tourist agencies. The ferry "Fantaasia" will depart from Riga every second day.

Possibly the ferry "Regina Baltica" will also start to operate in the route as of May this year. Wherewith the ferries of "Tallink" will depart from Riga and Stockholm every day.
