During the first two months of the current year the cargo turnover of the Freeport of Riga has increased by 30,1% comparing to January and February 2002. The sharpest raise reached bulk cargoes, in total constituting 1 265 100 tons or by 46,7% more than during respective period of 2002, when 862 300 tons of bulk cargoes were handled. The amount of handled general cargoes during the first two months of 2003 reached 1 018 200 tons, which is by 24,4% more than during corresponding period of the last year, when 818 400 tons of general cargoes were handled. The handled amount of liquid cargoes during January and February reached 920 100 tons, which is by 17,7% more than a year ago, when 781 700 tons of liquid cargoes were handled.
