During the first four months of the current year the Freeport of Riga handled 9.58 MLN tons of cargoes, which is by 20.3% more that during respective period a year ago.


The number of bulk cargoes handled has increased sharply by 37.9%, reaching 6.33 MLN tons, the general cargoes for their part have experienced decrease by 5.9% comparing to respective period of the last year, totalling to 1.64 MLN tons of this type of cargoes.

Similarly during the first trimester the handled amounts of liquid cargoes went down by 1.1%, totalling to 1 611 700 tons of liquid cargoes.

During the first four months the Freeport of Riga serviced 85 675 passengers, which is by 42.3% more than a year ago.

The overall handling capacity of the Freeport terminals is 45 MLN tons per year, in 2007 the Freeport handled 25.9 MLN tons of cargoes that is by 2.3% more than in 2006.
