July promises to be the richest month of the year for cruise ships - 22 cruise ship calls have been scheduled at the Port of Riga, with the largest number of cruise passengers coming from the USA.
In July, Riga will welcome the largest cruise vessel of the season - the 316-metre long German TUI Cruises’ ship “Mein Schiff 1” (maximum pax. capacity - 2894 passengers and 1100 crew members). The vessel will call Riga twice this year - on 6 July and 5 August.
Two of the cruise ships announced for July will call at the Port of Riga for the first time - on the morning of 11 July, a premium class ship “Vista” of the US cruise line Oceania Cruises will make her maiden call at the Port of Riga, while on 26 July an expedition ship “World Traveller” of the US cruise line Nicko Cruises/Atlas will call at the Port of Riga.
Built in 2023, “Vista” is a 241-metre-long, 36-metre-wide, 15-deck luxury cruise ship. It has 612 cabins and can accommodate up to 1 200 passengers and 800 crew members. The ship offers spacious, modern staterooms setting new standards for comfort, sophisticated interiors, as well as high-end restaurants and unforgettable culinary experiences, spa and pool areas and other leisure facilities.
"World Traveller is a small yet luxurious expedition cruise ship from the USA, which can accommodate up to 200 passengers at a time, providing a high level of comfort and personalised client service. "World Traveller” is designed for exploring the world's most remote locations, including Antarctica, offering unique expedition experiences combined with safety and stability.
This month, on 3 July, the Port of Riga will welcome the legendary Norwegian Vestland Classic Fleet‘s expedition ship “Nordsjernen” (translated from Norwegian - “Northern Star”), which is included in the Norwegian National Heritage List. The ship was built in 1956 and is famous for its authentic brass and wood interior. The ship is an extraordinary example of ship architecture and design of the 50s, referring in many aspects to the 30s of the XXth Century and to certain solutions of the age of steamships.
This season, 26 ships have already called the Port of Riga, bringing around 40,000 guests from more than 120 countries, most of them from the USA, Germany and the UK. 84 cruise ship calls have been scheduled for the 2025 season, nearly a third more than last year.
