1278 ships have been serviced at the Freeport of Riga between 1 January 2011 and 28 February 2011. Among them 561 have entered, 580 have left, and 137 have been shifted.

Yesterday, on February 28, the icebreaker “Varma” brought 4 Panamax type vessels and 2 medium-tonnage ships into the port by forming a caravan.

Today, 5 ships are in the roadstead waiting to enter the port, and 2 ships are in the port waiting to leave.

Since the complicated situation when ice forms thickenings at the port entrance continues, “Varma” is in the external roadstead and works actively to ensure ship traffic from the sea gate to Kolka. Servicing of ships in the port basin is provided by tugboats of the Freeport of Riga Authority.

Coast Guard Service of the Naval Forces has informed the ships icebound in the Gulf of Riga about reserves of fuel, water, and food, and every captain of the ship is informed as to where to find assistance.
