Daugavgrīvas krasta nostiprinājuma atjaunošana

According to the order of the Freeport of Riga Authority, repairs are being carried out on the Daugavgrīva shore reinforcement or BKRR dam. The restoration of the hydro-technical structure was started in 2020, reinforcing the storm-washed Daugavgrīva coastline for almost 200 meters. The works were continued in 2022 and currently 300 meters of reinforcement structure have been completely restored with piles of boulders and granite. It is planned that work on reinforcing the BKRR dam towards the Western Breakwater will continue in the future. The renovated dam will protect the port area from coastal erosion and potential flooding threats, as well as make the site more accessible to residents who use the port's hydro-technical structure to get to the nearby Western Breakwater.

The BKRR dam was built as a shore reinforcement structure in 1997 with the aim to protect the shoreline from erosion.
