On 6th of August 2014 m/v Flottbek made its first Gdynia - Riga call in the adjusted lately Unifeeder Baltic schedule. M/v Flottbek with its 169 meters length and 1638 TEU nominal capacity is the biggest Unifeeder vessel operating in the Baltic Sea.

Unifeeder offers presently two weekly sailings to/from Riga. The first loop starts in Rotterdam and on the way to Riga vessels call also Szczecin and Gdynia. The second loop connects Riga with Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Rauma. A new direct link from Gdynia and Szczecin creates unique shortsea opportunities not only to Latvia but also to Russia and other countries in the central Asia.

Combining seaborne transportation with road and/or rail, Unifeeder provides European customers with fully multimodal and flexible door-to-door solutions. According to Michal Wykowski, Unifeeder Country Manager in Poland and the Baltic States, for the new connection from Szczecin and Gdynia will be offered 20’, 40’ and 45’HC pallet-wide containers, which are an integrated part of Unifeeder shortsea offering. Michal Wykowski underlined that Unifeeder 45’ is fully compliant with EU directives, takes a load that is identical to a cargo trailer and includes eight pallets more compared with a 40’ container.

Consequently, it provides shippers seeking more environmentally friendly or cost effective forms of transport with a serious alternative to road haulage.
