Today the Prime minister Mr.Aigars Kalvitis and U.S. Ambassador to Latvia Catherine Todd Bailey after visit to the Freeport of Riga acknowledged the development of the Freeport.


Today’s visit gave the Prime minister confidence regarding the port management’s will for development. According to the said by the Prime minister, currently there are obvious positive tendencies regarding the port.

The Prime minister acknowledged that Latvia is interested to attract investments from USA and the Freeport of Riga is the best place for it.

According to the U.S. Ambassador, the Freeport of Riga has large possibilities to continue development and widening, as this is the place to enforce strategic interests not only for Riga but also for the whole Latvia.

The Ambassador was also certain that cooperation with the government of Latvia will be continued in order to facilitate USA investment attracting.

Port visit programme included presentation of future development plans of the Riga Passenger terminal, visit to container terminal "Baltic Container Terminal", newly built Freeport of Riga customs point and the Vessel Traffic Centre.
