Serenade of the Seas

This morning, Serenade of the Seas - the cruise ship of the US cruise company Royal Caribbean International, arrived at the port of Riga in the framework of its 274-day round-the-world cruise. This cruise ship has already visited the port of Riga during Baltic Sea cruises, but this is the first time it has called Riga on such a world cruise itinerary.

Serenade of the Seas arrived in Riga from the port of Warnemünde/Rostock in Germany. The majority of 1,947 passengers are US citizens, but there are also tourists from Canada, the UK and Australia. The ship will spend one day in Riga and then will leave for Tallinn in the evening. The next ports on the route will be Helsinki, Stockholm and other Baltic Sea ports.

Serenade of the Seas is an impressive 293 meter long and almost 40 meter wide cruise ship with 13 decks. More than 1,000 passenger cabins with a maximum capacity of 2,146 passengers offer a wide variety of elegant accommodation. 11 restaurants, 3 swimming pools, a spa and fitness center, sports courts and an immense range of nightlife and entertainment options are available to the passengers. The ship boasts such exclusive features as the signature Rock Climbing Wall rising 12 meters above the upper deck and a mini golf course, as well as meeting facilities and event venues. Large glass windows and magnificent panoramic views are a highlight, as well as glass elevators overlooking the ocean.

The world cruise itinerary of Serenade of the Seas is no less spectacular - the ship will spend 274 days on the voyage, calling more than 150 ports in over 60 countries. During the voyage, passengers will have the opportunity to visit every continent and see 8 Wonders of the World. Travelers have the option to join the entire Ultimate World Cruise or purchase one of the four segments. It is also possible to buy one of 16 relatively shorter itineraries (9 - 28 nights).

The cruise operator, Royal Caribbean International, provides the following description of the world cruise: “Get ready to see the world in a whole new light - introducing the Ultimate World Cruise onboard Serenade of the Seas®. You can spend 274 nights bonding with like-minded explorers over global discoveries across all seven continents. Or pick a corner of the globe and explore every inch of it on one of four Ultimate World Cruise℠ segments - each an immersive voyage of 60+ nights.

Connect with countless distinct cultures, soak up the most spectacular landscapes on Earth, and marvel at World Wonders that showcase mankind’s boundless imagination.”

During their stay in Riga, Serenade of the Seas passengers not only visited popular tourist attractions in Riga's Old Town, but also went on themed excursions to Turaida and Sigulda, enjoyed local food at Riga Central Market, and visited Jewish culture heritage and memorial sites.

66 ship calls to the Port of Riga are currently registered for 2024 cruise season, which is 4 more than last year. While the start of the season this year has been less busy than in other years, the cruise season in the Port of Riga has really taken off since July. 16 cruise ships visited the Port of Riga in July, in August there were 13 calls and in September - 17. The summer cruise season will end with two calls in October, while 5 ships are expected in December for the winter season.
