On September 2, 2014 the Mayor of Japanese city Kobe Mr. Kizo Hisamoto and a delegation of the city officials visited the Freeport of Riga Authority before the meeting with the country’s leaders.

 

The CEO of the Freeport of Riga Authority Mr. Leonids Loginovs welcomed the guests and presented the current situation in the port, as well as provided information on investment and cooperation opportunities, the scheduled infrastructure and logistics development plans.

Kobe is one of the oldest sister-cities of the Latvian capital; the city of Riga signed the relevant treaty in 1974. The purpose of the treaty is to promote cooperation between the two cities in the fields of culture, tourism and entrepreneurship. Kobe is one of Japan's largest cities, with a population of 1.5 million people.
