On June 3-4, 2014 a high level conference on transport, logistics and trade routes “Connecting Europe with Asia” will take place in Riga.

The event is being organized in the framework of the Central and Eastern European countries co-operation program in close cooperation with the Chinese authorities. High-level officials, internationally recognized academic experts as well as members of business associations, representatives of industry and business confirmed their participation in the conference.

In the framework of this international event the visit of the Chinese delegation, headed by China's Vice Minister of Transport Weng Mengyong, to the Freeport of Riga is being scheduled. Chinese delegation includes high-level officials from Chinese Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Transport Planning and Research Institute as well as representatives of major Chinese investors.

During the visit of Chinese delegation cargo transshipment opportunities at the Freeport of Riga as well as investment options will be presented to the delegation. A tour around the port water area on board the tour boat “Jelgava” will provide excellent opportunity for the Chinese delegation to get acquainted with the current situation at the port, see available business areas, as well as learn a lot about the port infrastructure and infrastructure development plans.
