As of today the changes of the Freeport of Riga boundaries offered by the Riga City Council come into force. The changes anticipate to exclude several territories out of the port territory and to move the port borders away from the city centre.

In compliance with the new regulations the total territory of the Freeport of Riga is 6348 ha: land of the port - 1962 ha, port aquatory –1271 ha and port outer roads - 3115 ha. The total area of the port will be concretised after the land survey.

The territory of the Freeport of Riga is determined until the Vansu bridge. At the places where the port territory matches with the Daugava river line, the Freeport of Riga Authority may operate within 20m wide territory in order to maintain the port aquatory.

Kundzinsala is included within the port territory and the miscellaneous construction is intended there. Andrejsala, Vējzaķsala, Andrejosta, part of the Spilve meadows and some territories of Mangalsala are excluded out of the port’s territory.

The border changes were initiated by the Freeport of Riga Authority.
