In the beginning of the year the FPRA has already informed that in order to achieve one of the Freeport of Riga objectives, namely, to maintain and enhanced the customer base, and to find ways to avoid dependency on any single type of cargo, it is regularly expanding its international network of cooperation with potential investors and partners. With the aim to implement the above objectives, the FPRA plans to participate in 11 the transport/logistics and cruise industry conferences and exhibitions in 2016.

One of the most important forums with participation of the FPRA is TransRussia international exhibition, which is the largest event of its kind in Russia in terms of presented products and services, exhibition area and the number of visitors. TransRussia is also one of the most important events in the transport and logistics industry in Russia, which annually brings together the leading players in the freight sector from European and Asian countries. The exhibition is an important and significant event due to the fact, that since 2014 the FPRA, in cooperation with the port companies, has organized the Port of Riga Joint Stand with the aim to boost visitors’ interest and attract new clients. TransRussia 2016 will take place from 19 to 22 April.

From October 4 to 6, 2016, the Freeport of Riga Authority will participate in the international logistics exhibition Transit Kazakhstan 2016, which will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan. All interested parties will be invited to visit the Freeport of Riga stand in joint Latvia’ logistics exposition, where visitors will be informed about the possibilities for the transit corridor via Latvia, about the scope of freight transport, as well as investment and business opportunities at the Freeport of Riga. In a situation where cruise lines are forced to seek new destinations, it is very important to participate in international cruise conferences. On the one hand, it provides an opportunity for the FPRA to establish new contacts, but, more importantly, provides the opportunity to showcase products and services to the cruise industry decision-makers and consumers. For example, in 2015 the German company AIDA Cruises included the Freeport of Riga as one of the destinations on its cruise line route, sending 5 cruise ships to Latvian capital. Actually, Riga as a destination was promoted by the company's Vice President Harald von der Osten-Sacken, who visited Riga in the framework of Cruise Europe 2014 conference that was organized by the Freeport of Riga Authority.

In addition to the above-mentioned events, the FPRA representatives have planned participation in Trans Siberia 2016, Seatrade Global 2016 Transport Logistic China 2016, China - Eurasia Expo 2016, Seatrade Med 2016, Transport and Logistics 2016, Minsk, TransUzbekistan 2016, as well as in the fair Logistic & Transport 2016 in Sweden and in Russian Transit Week.
