This week, from 5 to 7 November, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, hosts the international freight transport and logistics exhibition "TransLogistics Uzbekistan 2024". The Freeport of Riga Authority and port companies participate in the exhibition under a single national brand VIA LATVIA, together with the Ministry of Transport and representatives of major players in the Latvian transport sector, major ports, the railway holding company VAS “Latvijas dzelzceļš” and Riga Airport. The Mediterranean Shipping Company and CMA-CGM, container lines operating globally and calling at the Port of Riga, were also represented at the important event in Uzbekistan.
Latvian companies consider their work at the exhibition as successful - both individual business meetings and active communication at the stand with partners from Uzbekistan took place.
The prospects for cooperation in various freight groups were discussed - both for the import of Uzbek cargo (agro-goods, textiles, etc.) to Latvia and for the export of various Latvian-made goods (foodstuffs, medicines) to Uzbekistan. Perspective freight shipment projects for the transit of consumer electronics, medical equipment and medicines through the Port of Riga and Riga International Airport to Uzbekistan were on the agenda. Food (agro-goods) and minerals (fertilisers) were considered as the main export cargo of Uzbekistan in transit via Riga to Europe and other countries of the world.
In terms of current market size, Uzbekistan is the most important country in the Central Asian region, with a population of 37 million and projected positive market growth.
It is worth mentioning that this year the Latvian national stand was awarded for 20 years of cooperation and contribution to development.
