STEN ARNOLD

On May 5, 2026, the ship STEN ARNOLD, which has delivered 12 thousand tons of aviation fuel to the Port of Riga from Norway, successfully docked at the berth of SIA “PARS TERMINALS”. Delivery is organized by SIA “PARS TERMINALS” in cooperation with SIA “NAFTIMPEKS”, confirming effective and coordinated cooperation of strategic partners.

This delivery is important evidence of Latvia’s ability to ensure stable and uninterrupted supplies of aviation fuel, even in times of crisis, while diversifying its cooperation partners. It should be noted that in February of this year, the first shipment of aviation fuel from the United States arrived at the Port of Riga, which, together with today’s delivery from Norway, clearly demonstrates Latvia’s capacity to build a secure and diversified supply chain in cooperation with reliable international partners.

The supplied aviation fuel will be delivered to the airport, providing fuel for airlines operating at the Riga International Airport.

“In the current geopolitical climate, a stable supply of aviation fuel is more important than ever. It ensures the uninterrupted operation of Riga airport and the airlines based there, strengthening Latvia’s position as a hub for Baltic aviation. This successful delivery confirms our ability to cooperate swiftly with a range of strategic partners, and we can expect to expand such cooperation further in the future,” emphasized Minister of Transport Atis Švinka.

Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis noted: “Latvia’s ability to diversify its sources of supply is critical to the resilience of our economy. Cooperation with partners such as Norway and the United States ensures the continued availability of energy resources.”

Ansis Zeltiņš, the Freeport of Riga CEO, emphasized: “This delivery clearly demonstrates the strategic importance of the Port of Riga in energy supply chains. We are working purposefully to strengthen Latvia’s energy security and ensure the continuity of logistics even under challenging geopolitical conditions.”

Nellija Geiba, Member of the Board of SIA “PARS TERMINALS”", emphasized: “In cooperation with SIA “NAFTIMPEKS”, we ensure the highest quality and safety standards in aviation fuel logistics. We have demonstrated our ability to handle international deliveries and efficiently ensure their onward transportation to the airport.”

The aviation fuel delivered by the ship STEN ARNOLD is a significant contribution to the security of Latvia's energy supply, demonstrating the country’s ability to respond flexibly to global challenges while ensuring the continuous availability of critical resources.
