On Monday, March 9, unloading of the US Army military equipment from the vessel “Liberty Promise” took place at the Freeport of Riga. Military equipment delivery operation was implemented in the framework of the “Atlantic Resolve”, supporting the US Cavalry 2 Regiment replacement by the 1st brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division.

M1A2 “Abrams” and armored vehicles M2A3 “Bradley” were delivered and unloaded at the Freeport, as well as combat support and security equipment - a total of more than 120 units of equipment.

The Freeport’s multi-functionality during the previous five years was confirmed by the growing volume of the US and NATO non-military cargo, the highest proportion of which was transported in the direction to/ and from Afghanistan via the Freeport of Riga. In 2013 celebration of the 100 000th US container, handled via Freeport of Riga, took place.

The military equipment delivery via the Freeport of Riga proves that the NATO and the US government have highly appreciated the Freeport of Riga's ability to quickly and efficiently handle the cargo. Security guarantees, provided by the Freeport of Riga, were equally highly evaluated, the security measure at the Freeport comply with the requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (IPSP), the European Council Regulations and Directives, as well as with the Port Police security plan.
