Solar collector system for hot water supply and support for heating system in the administrative buildings in Riga, 12 Kalpaka blvd, 3 Meldru Street, and 5a Meldru Street.

The project aims to reduce CO2 emissions by building solar collector systems with a total installed thermal capacity of 240 kW that would provide the buildings with hot water supply March through October and would support the heating system during the heating season. Altogether, 20 evacuated tube solar collectors, type VP12 are to be installed for each building with a total surface area of 180 m2. The collector operation in each system will be regulated by a solar automation and control node, which also provides tracking of the amount of the solar energy received. Accumulation tanks of appropriate size for hot water accumulation will be installed in support of the heating system and for hot water accumulation. To provide hot water heating, as well as support of the heating system, the solar collector systems will be integrated into the existing heating systems of the buildings. The project implementation is necessary in order to reduce CO2 emissions, use renewable energy sources, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, while avoiding increase in the heat costs for end user.

Technical design

Within the framework of Project no KPFI-12/201 "Solar collector systems for hot water and support for heating system in the administrative buildings in Riga 12 Kalpaka Blvd 12, 3 Meldru Street and 5a Meldru Street” the technical design has been finished and solar panels for installing on the buildings in Meldru street have been purchased. The panel installation will begin as soon as weather conditions permit.

Solar panels for the building in Kalpaka Blvd. have been ordered and will be delivered in late July.

 

 

 

 

 

At the beginning of July, 2012 the workers from Energotaupošas tehnoliģijas un sistēmas started the installation of solar batteries on the roof of the Freeport of Riga Authority Administration building in Meldru Street 5a.

At the beginning of September the installation of the solar batteries began on the building in Meldru Street 3.

On 30th October 2012 the implementation activities of the Project "Solar collector systems for hot water and support for heating system in the administrative buildings in Riga 12 Kalpaka Blvd 12, 3 Meldru Street and 5a Meldru Street” have been finished.

20 evacuated tube solar collectors have been installed on each of the roofs, they will reduce CO2 emissions and provide buildings with hot water supply and support heating systems.
