Cruise season 2012 in the Freeport of Riga

In 2012 the Freeport of Riga opened the cruise season earlier than usually – on April 30 with the call of prestigious MSC Lirica at the Riga Passenger Terminal. The season was concluded with the visit of luxury cruise ship Nautica (Oceania Cruises) on September 22.

Hamburg calls the port of Riga for the first time

Freeport of Riga welcomed German cruise operator’s Plantours & Partner newest cruise ship Hamburg on June 25.

Nautica’s first call in the port of Riga

On June 14 Freeport of Riga welcomed luxury class cruise vessel Nautica (Oceania Cruises) for the first time.

Fram and Grand Mistral call the port of Riga for the first time

On the second half of the May, cruise ships are calling the Freeport of Riga almost every day. Among them two cruise ships have never been in Riga before – Norwegian Fram (opetor: Hurtigruten ) on May 20, and Spanish Grand Mistral (operator: Iberocruceros) on May 21.

Riga port opens the cruise season 2011

In 19th of May Riga port was called by the first cruise ship of summer season - Le Boreal. This ship's arrival made the cruise season opening a very special event for the port of Riga, because it was Le Boreal’s first visit to Riga.

Freeport of Riga was represented at the European Cruise Council 2011

On 14 June 2011 in Brussels the European Cruise Council 2011 Ports Summit was held. In the framework of annual conference, for the first year the Ports Summit was organized.

From March 14-17 Freeport of Riga already for the fourth time participated in the largest cruise industry exhibition Cruise Shipping Miami 2011.

Kristina Katarina arrives to Riga

On Friday, June 17th, Kristina Katarina (Kristina Cruises) called the port of Riga for the first time. Kristina Katarina brought to Riga 303 passengers and a crew of 63 people.

Princess Maria visits Riga for The First Time

Although the opening of the cruise season is months to look forward to, Freeport of Riga is proud of St. Peter Line’s cruise Princess Maria first arrival to Riga in January 6, 2011. As known, the Port of Riga is ice-free harbor, allowing cruise ships to enter also in the winter season.

Clipper Odyssey and Marina call the port of Riga for the first time

16th of June has been an important day for the port of Riga due to two cruise news. We are proud to announce the welcoming of two maiden calls in one day - Clipper Odyssey (Zegrahm Expeditions) and Marina (Oceania Cruises)! These cruise ships significantly differs each from the other, seemingly their only common feature is the date of the first visit in the port of Riga.

The Riga Port is represented at the European Cruise Council conference 2010

On 14 September 2010 in Brussels, Belgium, the European Cruise Council conference 2010 took place; experts of the sphere from all Europe and even further eastern and western countries gathered there to discuss development of cruise services in Europe. Latvia was represented in this conference by Inita Luna, Head of the Freeport of Riga Authority Cruise Ships and Passengers Division.

Mein Schiff 2 calls port of Riga for the first time

Today the representatives of Freeport of Riga Authority officially welcomed German cruise operator’s TUI Cruises newest cruise vessel Mein Schiff 2 with its first call to the port of Riga. Last summer Riga port welcomed Mein Schiff, this summer already Mein Schiff 2. Captain Michael Block humorously gives a promise for next summer - to visit Riga with Mein Schiff 3 and 4.

2010 cruise ship season

2010 cruise ship season was scheduled to begin on 04. May with the arrival of the 201-meter-long Mona Lisa, and On 16. September 2010, entry of the cruise ship N.G. Explorer concluded a five month cruise ship season in the Riga Port.
