The Freeport of Riga signs agreement with "Tallink"

Today the Freeport of Riga Authority signed an agreement with Estonian shipping company "Tallink" that determines starting regular ferry traffic between Riga and Stockholm within six weeks time.

"Tallink" states that the first ferry "Fantaasia" in line Riga – Stockholm will start to operate in the beginning of April.

During ten months the Freeport of Riga handles cargoes by 1,2% more

During ten months of the current year 20,357MLN tons of cargoes were handled at the Freeport of Riga, which is by 1,2% more than during of the respective period of the last year, when 20,119MLN tons were handled.

Loginovs has been elected a member of IAPH Executive Committee

Re-elections of the Executive Committee of the IAPH has taken place and Mr.Leonids Loginovs, CEO of the Freeport of Riga Authority has been elected to the member of the Executive Committee of the IAPH.

During nine months period the Freeport of Riga handled cargoes by 1,7% more

During nine months period the Freeport of Riga handled 18.277 MLN tons of cargoes, which is by 1,7% more than during respective period of the last year, when 17,974 MLN tons were handled.

Moscow calls for special Freeport of Riga presentation for Russian entrepreneurs regarding port potentials

In the letter of the Mayor of Moscow Mr.Luzkov to Russian Federation Ambassador to Latvia Mr.Kaluznij, received also at the Freeport of Riga Authority, calls to the Freeport of Riga Authority and Latvian Railway Company "Latvijas dzelzcels" to carry out economic analysis and to prepare a presentation for Russian entrepreneurs regarding port advantages comparing to other Noth-East ports.

The Freeport of Riga handles cargoes by 2,4% more

During the first eight months of the current year 16,39MLN tons of cargoes were handled, which is by 2,4% more than during respective period of the last year, when the Freeport handled 16 MLN tons.

Today on the ocation of the 805 anniversary of the Riga Freeport the best stevedore companies were greeted.

During the first seven months of the current year the Freeport of Riga has handled 14,306 MLN tons of cargoes, which is by 2,7% more than during respective period of the last year, when the port handled 13,928 MLN tons.

Slesers predicts sharp increase in cargo turnover for the Latvian ports

According to the said by the Minister of Transport Mr.Ainars Slesers during the conference "The Role of the Freeport of Riga in Creation of the New European Logistics Platform" today, Russia is ready to flatten port tariffs that could result in increase of cargo turnover of the Latvian ports by 20%.

The State officials approve the development of the Freeport of Riga

Today the Prime minister Mr.Aigars Kalvitis and U.S. Ambassador to Latvia Catherine Todd Bailey after visit to the Freeport of Riga acknowledged the development of the Freeport.

Riga to be included in the PAN European transport network map

According the said at today’s conference by the State secretary of the Ministry of Transport Mr.Vigo Legzdins, Riga is to be included in the future PAN European map as an important transport node in East – West transport corridor.

The cargo turnover at the Freeport of Riga has risen by 3,2%

During the first five months of the current year the Freeport of Riga handled ten million tons of cargoes, which is by 3,2% more than during the respective period of the last year, when 9,7 MLN tons were handled.

The book "Riga port 1990 - 2005" by Anita Freiberga has been publicated

Celebrating 805 anniversary of the Riga Port today documental story "Riga port 1990 - 2005" by Anita Freiberga has been publicized.

Today Mrs Freiberga said that she "cannot be a judge" therefore the story mainly is about achievements, about people that have worked for the port during these years.
