Freeport of Riga welcomed German cruise operator’s Plantours & Partner newest cruise ship Hamburg on June 25.

Hamburg brought to Riga 421 passengers mainly from Germany. The ship was 144 meters long with the carrying capacity 14.9 thous GT. The vessel was built in the 1996, however in the fleet of Plantours & Partner Hamburg sails only since May this year. Beforehand ship was owned by Hapag Lloyd Cruises and was called Columbus. After the change of ownership, cruise operator and crew, the ship begun a new life. Hence, the plaque of the Port of Riga will be among the first memorial signs to decorate ship’s wall of plaques in order to remind all the ports the ship has called.

With the representatives of Freeport of Riga Authority met Captain Thorbjörn Svensson. Captain has been in Riga for several times, but never yet did he experience a sunny weather in Riga. Noteworthy that after Captain said these words out loud, the weather in the city improved significantly. We take it as a sign of a successful collaboration in the future and we hope to welcome Hamburg at the port of Riga further on.
