Kristina Katarina arrives to Riga

On Friday, June 17th, Kristina Katarina (Kristina Cruises) called the port of Riga for the first time. Kristina Katarina brought to Riga 303 passengers and a crew of 63 people.

Kristina Katarina is 138 m long cruise ship that initially was built for military use. In 1982 the ship made her maiden voyage. Since the ship was built for multifunctional use, it has an advantage to sail in different waters. Captain proudly mentions all the destinations where the vessel has ever been and the list is long. However, the summers Kristina Katarina spends mostly in Baltic Sea.

Kristina Cruises is Finnish cruise operator; thus the passengers on board are mainly Finns. Target market of Kristina Katarina cruises are cruisengers who look for improving their knowledge about history, architecture and even ornithology (!) as Captain reveals, they often invite professionals on board to give the lectures about different subjects.

With the Captain of Kristina Katarina Ulf Peter Lindstrom met the representatives of Freeport of Riga Authority, in order to congratulate ship’s first arrival to Riga port. In a small ceremony of plaque exchange parties exchanged gifts and kind wishes to build a base for sustainable partnership in future.

Last week for the port of Riga has been notably successful. Within 3 days port has welcomed five cruise ships, 3 of which called the port for the first time. We are glad about attracting new cruise vessels to port of Riga, and look forward for further cooperation with the new cruise companies.
